RECOGNITION OF RAIL FLAWS
COURSE AIMS
This course is intended to provide a delegate with the
relevant knowledge in the types of rail defects and how they should be
dealt with.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course the delegates will: -
Be able to identify the different types of visible
rail defects
Be aware of the relevant Railway Group Standards and Network Rail
Company Standards relating to RCF (Rolling Contact Fatigue)
Be able to identify and clarify RFC
Be aware of the types of Non Destructive Tests (NDT) used to identify
defects in the rail
COURSE DURATION
One half day.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no particular educational or competence pre-requisites
for the course. However, the following factors will be of benefit to the
delegate: -
Prior experience of working on the Permanent Way
A clear understanding of the track construction and its reaction
under dynamic load.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Not required.
CERTIFICATION
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to the delegate
on completion of the course.
