ASSESSOR SKILLS A1

INTRODUCTION

There is an increasing need within all industry to assure the competence of staff, especially those who work in a safety critical environment. To demonstrate compliance with these requirements, both contractual and legal, the assessment should be conducted by qualified assessors who are able to use a range of assessment methods.

COURSE AIMS

The course is intended to provide candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge they need to conduct assessments in their own occupational field and will enable them to meet the requirements of the national standards.
Delegates are required to complete three assessments in the workplace following the course and submit additional evidence of their assessor skills.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course the delegates will be able to: -
• Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
• Judge evidence against agreed standards to make assessment decisions
• Give candidates feedback and support on your assessment decisions
• Contribute to the internal quality assurance process

COURSE DURATION

Two days plus support and assessments in the workplace followed by a one day assessment in the delegates workplace.

PRE-REQUISITES

This course involves a high degree of documentation review and candidates should be familiar with their own company procedures on Competence Management.

CERTIFICATION

Delegates will work towards Unit A1 of the Employment NTO Learning and Development standard. This will be awarded by City and Guilds.
