BASIC HEALTH AND SAFETY

COURSE AIMS

To provide delegates with a brief overview of health and safety legislation as well as an insight into modern ‘best practice’.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course the delegates will: -
• Be aware of health and safety legislation including employees and employers responsibilities
•Have a clear understanding of employees duties to use and maintain personal protective equipment
• Have a clear understanding of modern health, safety and welfare regulations and standards at work
• Be aware of the statutory requirements for the provision of first aid in the work place
•Be aware of the need for basic fire prevention precautions including fire and extinguisher types
•Have an understanding of the commonly encountered health hazards
• Have a clear understanding of the regulations and practices relating to: -
- COSHH
- Electricity at Work
- Work Equipment
- Manual Handling
- Noise at Work
- Ergonomics and Workstation Design
• Have the ability to conduct a Risk Assessment and understand the role of Risk Assessment in the management of health and safety at work

PRE-REQUISITES

There are no particular educational or competence pre-requisites for the course.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

This course is, unless otherwise specified by the client, classroom based and as such no PPE will be required.

CERTIFICATION

A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to the delegate on completion of the course.
