FIRE AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

COURSE AIMS

This course is intended to provide a delegate with the underpinning knowledge and skill required to deal with fires in the workplace by means of portable fire fighting equipment and to assist in the evacuation of premises.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course the delegates will: -

• Be aware of the nature of fires, their ignition and spread
• Have a clear understanding of current fire and emergency procedures legislation
• Have a clear understanding of the different categories of fire and extinguishers
• Be aware of the precautions to be taken whilst fighting fires and evacuating premises
• Be aware of the importance of raising the alarm promptly and contact procedures for the emergency services
• Have an understanding of the requirements of Regulation 8 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
• Have a clear understanding of the need to provide ready access and comprehensible information to the emergency services in the event of an emergency.

PRE-REQUISITES

There are no particular educational or competence pre-requisites for the course.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

This course, unless otherwise specified by the client, is classroom based and as such no PPE will be required.

CERTIFICATION

A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to the delegate on completion of the course.
