A.O.D. LEVEL CROSSING ATTENDANT
COURSE AIMS
This course is intended to provide a delegate with
the understanding required to successfully interpret the relevant
parts of the Rule Book GE/RT 8000 Module TW8, and all relevant Local
Instructions when required to operate level crossings by local control.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course the delegates will: -
Understand the different types of level crossings and their
operation.
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding
of the role of the level crossing attendant (LXA) and the signaller.
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding
of the action taken by the LXA when arriving on site
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding
of the role of the LXA once local control has been taken
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding
of the equipment that is required for local control
Be able to understand and use the phonetic
alphabet
Be able to understand the requirements for
level crossing operation during a T3 possession
Be able to understand the requirements for
level crossing operation during Single Line Working
Be able to understand the requirements for
level crossing operation when attending a failure of the crossing
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding
of the role of the LXA when handing back the crossing to the signaller
for normal operation
COURSE DURATION
One Day, including the assessment process.
PRE-REQUISITES
Delegates must be in possession of a valid D&A
certificate and a valid Sentinel card endorsed for IWA/COSS.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
This course requires the delegate to be on or near
the running line, therefore, he/she MUST be in possession of: -
Safety Footwear
Protective High Visibility Clothing
Hard Hat
CERTIFICATION
Network Rail Sentinel Track Safety card, (endorsed
with AOD LXA competence) valid for 2 years, will be awarded to each
successful candidate.
