COURSE AIMS

To provide delegates with a brief overview of health and safety legislation as well as an insight.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course the delegates will: -

  • Be aware of health and safety legislation including employees and employers responsibilities
  • Have a clear understanding of employees duties to use and maintain personal protective equipment
  • Have a clear understanding of modern health, safety and welfare regulations and standards at work
  • Be aware of the statutory requirements for the provision of first aid in the work place
  • Be aware of the need for basic fire prevention precautions including fire and extinguisher types
  • Have an understanding of the commonly encountered health hazards
  • Have a clear understanding of the regulations and practices relating to: -
  • - COSHH
    - Electricity at Work
    - Work Equipment
    - Manual Handling
    - Noise at Work
    - Ergonomics and Workstation Design

  • Have the ability to conduct a Risk Assessment and understand the role of Risk Assessment in the management of health and safety at work
  • COURSE DURATION

    One day.

    PRE-REQUISITES

    There are no particular educational or competence pre-requisites for the course.

    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

    This course is, unless otherwise specified by the client, classroom based and as such no PPE will be required.

    CERTIFICATION

    A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to the delegate on completion of the course.
