<p>This course is intended to provide a delegate with the underpinning knowledge to achieve a suitable level as required by Network Rail Company Standards.</p>

<h3>Learning Objectives</h3>
<p>At the end of this course the delegates will: -</p>
<li>Be able to demonstrate an awareness of the Inspection Frequencies relative to line speeds</li>
<li>Understand the need of visual observation in respect of the Inspection Procedure</li>
<li>Be able to identify the key elements of the crossing requiring particular attention and features to be observed during the Inspection</li>
<li>Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the requirements when producing an Inspection Report and the ability to complete a Cast Crossing Inspection Report / Failure Report Form</li>
<li>Be able to identify the various types of cast crossings</li>
<li>Have a clear understanding of track geometry in relation to cast crossings</li>
<li>Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding in the use of Dye Penetrative Inspection for the non-destructive testing of cast crossing</li>

<h3>Course Duration</h3>
<p>Two days, inclusive of theoretical and on-site practical assessment.</p>

<h3>Pre-requisites</h3>
<p>There are no particular educational or competence pre-requisites for the course. However, the following factors will benefit the delegates: -</p>
<li>Prior basic knowledge of the permanent way track and its components</li>
<li>Prior experience of working on the maintenance and renewal of S&amp;C</li>
<p class="body">
<h3>Personal Protective Equipment</h3>
<p>This course requires the delegate to be on or near the running line, therefore, he/she MUST be in possession of: -</p>
<li>Valid P. T. S. Card</li>
<li>Protective &#8220;all orange&#8221; High Visibility Clothing to BS EN 471:2003</li>
<li>Safety Footwear to BS EN ISO 20345:2004</li>
<li>Safety Helmet (white/blue) to BS EN 397:1995</li>
<li>General Purpose Gloves to BS EN388:2121</li>
<li>Safety Glasses to BS EN 166 and of Optical Class 1 with Impact Resistance F</li>

<h3>Certification</h3>
<p>A Certificate of Competency will be awarded to the delegate on successful completion of both an underpinning knowledge and practical on-site assessment.</p>
