Course Aims

The course is intended to provide the delegate with a basic understanding of environmental awareness on Permanent Way works. Suitable for Senior Technicians, Maintenance and Renewals Managers, Project Managers and Site Supervisors/Managers.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course the delegates will:

  • Have an overview of environmental legislation
  • Be aware of the importance of managing the works within the confines of legislation and good practice
  • Be aware of the Network Rail standards and requirements in management of the work
  • Be able to carry out a basic environmental survey
  • Be able to identify environmental aspects and impacts
  • Be aware of various control measures and techniques to eliminate or reduce the impacts from the works
  • Be able to monitor the work as it progresses
  • Be aware of the procedure for handling public complaints
