Environmental Awareness

Course Aims

The course is intended to provide the delegate with a basic understanding of environmental awareness on Permanent Way works. Suitable for Senior Technicians, Maintenance and Renewals Managers, Project Managers and Site Supervisors/Managers.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course the delegates will:

Have an overview of environmental legislation

Be aware of the importance of managing the works within the confines of legislation and good practice

Be aware of the Network Rail standards and requirements in management of the work

Be able to carry out a basic environmental survey

Be able to identify environmental aspects and impacts

Be aware of various control measures and techniques to eliminate or reduce the impacts from the works

Be able to monitor the work as it progresses

Be aware of the procedure for handling public complaints
