Course Aims
This course is intended to provide delegates with a full understanding in the correct storage, transportation and placement of warning equipment relating to Temporary and Emergency Speed Restrictions in accordance with Network Rail specification and Railway Standards.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course the delegates will: -
Have a clear understanding of the requirements detailed in the Railway Group Standards, Network Rail Company Standards and Trackwork Instructions relating to TSRs and ESRs
Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the types of Warning Boards, Indicators and Termination Boards to use in certain situations
Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the types of Automatic Warning Systems employed
Have an understanding of the design criteria utilised in the setting up of TSRs and ESRs in given situations
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding in the correct storage and transportation of AWS Magnets, Warning and Termination Boards and Indicators
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the installation of AWS Magnets, Warning and Termination Boards and Indicators in accordance with a design drawing or specific instruction
Be able to demonstrate a theoretical and practical understanding in the correct transportation and placement of all warning boards and indicators
Course Duration
2 days, including theoretical and practical assessments.
Pre-Requisites
There are no particular educational pre-requisites for the course. The delegates must, however, be in possession of a valid COSS certificate.

Protective “all orange” High Visibility Clothing to BS EN 471:2003
Safety Footwear to BS EN ISO 20345:2004
Safety Helmet (white/blue) to BS EN 397:1995
General Purpose Gloves to BS EN388:2121
Certification
A Certificate of Competence will be awarded to the delegate on successful completion of both theoretical and practical assessments.
