Course Aims
The course is intended to provide the delegate with a clear understanding of how to complete and use a Test and Inspection Plan for track re-ballasting or formation renewal works. The course is suitable for Technicians and Managers.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the course the delegates will be:
Able to identify the excavation and alignment requirements from the particular specification or line standard. Know what the tolerances for the parameters are
Able to read the design drawings for track line and level and set out the datums for determination of track position post-work. Know what the tolerances for the parameters are
Able to set up datums for the measurement of depth, cross fall and alignment of excavations
Aware of the importance of controlling depths of excavation, crossfall and track levels
Able to use “Level Eye (mesfix)” and other methods to measure levels, depths and to populate Test & Inspection Plan Data Sheets
Able to identify and substantiate any variation from the particular specification or line standard’s requirement for depth and alignment of excavation
Able to measure track position and complete the “as built” data sheet identifying any variation with justification for the variation
Aware for the need to request derogation to the particular specification or line standard when required

Pre-requisites
Whilst no formal education requirement is necessary some experience in site work for both Plain Line and S&C track renewal will be required. Numeracy and mental arithmetic skills would be an advantage.
Personal Protective Equipment
P.P.E is not required for this course.
Certification
A Certificate of Training will be awarded to the delegate upon completion of the course.
