Following completion of the Safe System of Work training a delegate will be issued with a competence endorsed as Probationary.
In order to remove the Probationary status the delegate must complete a period of mentorship within four months of the initial training course.
During this period the delegate must demonstrate to a mentor that they are ready for Post Mentoring Core Competence Assessment. Evidence of this must be recorded on Work Experience Sheets.
The Post Mentoring assessment includes the following requirement:
The Assessor should assess a total of four SSOW packs produced by the planner that have been through the whole SSOWP process and have been returned by the COSS/IWA. These packs should include, wherever possible, a mixture of Open Line and / or Safeguarded, Fenced or Site Warden Warning (Separated).
The assessor is to observe the planner producing a SSOW pack required by their Responsible Manager and the Person in Charge (PIC). The assessor can observe the planner producing more than one pack.
An Interim competence assessment is required between 9-15 months following the first 24 months of competence. The candidate must have at least four entries on their work experience forms and 2 work experience entries of track visits prior to the interim assessment.
The planner must then have at least 4 SSOWP entries on the work experience form plus 2 work experience track visits since the interim assessment and prior to any recertification event.
